O Túnel
This marks the building’s third incarnation, as far as history tells us. Originally constructed during Salazar’s regime for the Mocidade Portuguesa, the structure was later reborn after the dictatorship as the iconic "Túnel" Bar, named after its distinctive tunnel-shaped entrance, a feature that remains central to the current design.
The Túnel soon became an iconic nighttime meeting point by the sea, celebrated for its irreverent atmosphere and daring identity. More than just a bar, it was a strip club, unapologetically bold and famously lively.
Local legend has it (half-jokingly) that it led to the financial ruin of many Portuguese men.
Now, the space enters a new era, one that both honours its colourful past and embraces a future centred on well-being, refinement, and sustainability. Reimagined with purpose, it continues to be a space for connection and vitality, now expressed through a more thoughtful, conscious design.

Melides Beach Club blends modern design with respect for the building’s history, local identity, and Portuguese materials. The iconic "tunnel" entrance sets the tone for the entire project.
To the left, a private room with bathroom can serve as an office, shop, or dining space.
The main dining room delivers a unique experience with unobstructed views, bar, finishing kitchen, and shutters that open to the balcony.
There is also a private sea-view room for groups, a living room, main bathroom, and pre-equipped kitchen.
All with direct beach access, for a truly immersive coastal experience.
On the lower floor, which can be reached by lift, in addition to a separate toilet that serves the entire floor, there are several parking spaces, staff changing rooms and another kitchen connected to the main kitchen by a plate rack.
It's on this floor that we have the customised wine cellar and another very versatile dining room. The natural connection to the outside gives access to the terrace, which invites you to relax in the warmer months of the year.
This building's outdoor space and its location next to the lagoon and the beach provide moments of relaxation and well-being, and can also be used for partying. With the outside pergola prepared with water and light for another possible service area, the entire building is connected to the pergola and the existing fire pit in a way that blends in with nature and respects the surroundings.
